Former FIFA president being investigated over loan

first_imgFORMER FIFA president Sepp Blatter is being investigated over the mismanagement of a $1M loan given by FIFA to the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association in 2010.In legal papers dated May 13, 2020 and seen by the BBC, Swiss federal prosecutors say Blatter is an ‘accused person’.It is the latest allegation of financial impropriety against Blatter.The 84-year-old has always denied any wrongdoing.The documents allege the interest-free and unsecured payment was made from a FIFA account on April 13, 2010. It adds the payment was subsequently waived.Former FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke and finance director Markus Kattner are also named as accused persons in the documents.The Swiss investigation is being overseen by Thomas Hildbrand, who joined the federal team handling soccer investigations last year. Last weekend, Syracuse grabbed back-to-back wins, first beating Boston College on Friday 5-2, then turning around to defeat a shorthanded Yale 6-0 on Sunday.Gabriela Knutson dropped one spot to No. 19 in the new singles rankings release, and the pair of Knutson and Miranda Ramirez dropped six spots to No. 19 in doubles despite their perfect record together this season.SU is 6-0 at home this season, including three shutout wins. Next up are two more Ivy League foes for the Orange. Syracuse it travels to Brown and Harvard for road matches on Saturday and Sunday. Fenton withdraws appeal over drug possession ban

first_imgFenton received the ban after being found guilty on eight charges of possession following an inspection of his County Tipperary yard in 2012. His training licence is revoked as of Wednesday and he will become a disqualified person on March 1st.last_img
